Which of Switzerland’s e-commerce shops and apps are web trailblazers? A panel of experts has managed to answer the question. It selected the best Swiss web retailers and presented them with the prestigious Digital Commerce Awards during a ceremony at the Connect – Digital Commerce Conference in Zurich on 22 May. One of the biggest winners is the company Winterhalter + Fenner with its KombiTool – an innovative e-commerce app that was developed by ieffects ag.
This is how ordering products will look in the future: fast, easy and practical. Winterhalter + Fenner’s customers, many of whom are electricians, use this trade app to put together the combination of products that’s exactly right for their needs. Then all they need to do is order them with a click. They just swipe between switches, power sockets, pushbuttons and a list of top brands; choose the component color; and create or edit the product combo they need using drag and drop. They can also view additional product information for each component if they need it. The application is intuitive and even works without an internet connection. Everything functions offline for sending the actual order. That saves customers loads of time, avoids the need to keep changing devices, and makes ordering so much easier – especially when the electrician is at a customer site.
Despite the fierce competition for the awards, the W+F KombiTool achieved a top five rating in two different categories. The panel honored it with second place in the Best Feature category and third in B2B Services and Process Integration. Both awards clearly underline the e-commerce app’s great design. The app’s developers are delighted too – the panel’s decision is the cherry on the cake of this year’s award ceremony. “We did think we’d get a nomination,” says Urs Marti from ieffects ag. “But the fact that we got onto the top five in two separate categories is a fantastic endorsement for us.”
The participants included the industry’s biggest names as well as some newcomers. The multi-disciplinary panel of independent experts evaluated just under 150 applications prior to the awards event. In a three-phase judging process, the specialists from Switzerland and other countries nominated 5 shops per category for the Digital Commerce Award 2019.
The applications came from companies operating websites or mobile apps from within and outside Switzerland. To be considered by the jury, applicants had to own a .ch web domain and use a shopping cart system to sell – or process transactions for – at least one B2B or B2C product or service in Switzerland. The Digital Commerce Connect-Award-Night is an annual event. The Best Feature category focuses on stand-out functionality, while the B2B Services und Process Integration category is aimed at companies with business customers. It recognizes providers that deliver either a high level of integration and support for their customers’ existing processes, or outstanding new services that the provider has seamlessly integrated into its existing offerings to benefit customers.
