A new innovation for the Hungarian wholesale trade: Sonepar Hungary’s B2B e-commerce app now available for download. With this shopping app, electrical material can be ordered quickly and easily directly from construction sites. And when there’s no Internet connection? The company thought about that too: should this be the case, the selected articles are simply added to the shopping cart and the order is placed as soon as there is a connection again. Deliveries directly to the construction site take place within 24 hours. The Sonepar Starter Edition already includes all the key items in the range and runs on both smartphones and tablets with the software platforms Android and iOS.
“This was a masterstroke by the project managers of both companies, who have completed the project in a tremendous effort within just three months. The result is a top-quality, offline-enabled e-commerce app that we’re very proud of,” says Lars Schickner, head of the Sonepar Group’s Digital Competence Center—Mobile Services. The feedback of Urs Marti, ieffects ag, is equally positive: “That’s how quickly a new, professional ordering tool can be put on the market if the priorities are right and a responsible team works hand in hand.”
One of the biggest challenges was that no login features had been set up yet and had to be built first. The app uses Microsoft Dynamics with an upstream Internet Information Service (IIS) server as ERP system. A system internally used by Sonepar was used for PIM.
The shopping app was released in-store on March 3 and presented on at the Sonepar fair in Budapest on March 9.
With the new shopping app, Sonepar Hungary has laid the foundation for an innovative, omni-channel e-commerce strategy— the first step towards digital transformation.
The ieffects Sonepar Starter Edition provides the most important features for quick ordering of materials on the go. A smart search feature allows you to quickly find the desired items, which in turn can be added to the shopping cart and ordered with just one click. True to the principle: “Search—Find—Buy”.
